In the last three months I have discovered what it really means to eat clean, to have energy, to push myself both mind and body to the ultimate limit and still have it in me to do more.
This programme showed me just how unhealthy my supposed ‘healthy’ eating habits were. Alvina educated me on nutrition and why certain foods were on the plan and others were not. I learned that the world we live in is inherently unhealthy and most foods contain hidden sugar and salt – we have to strive to be truly healthily. cutting out salt and sugar were by far the best things that could have happened to me to change my lifestyle for the better.
Once over the cravings my tastebuds came alive – clean food tasted amazing and the programme forced me to be creative with my food in order to get the most out of it. I love it so much I know I wont go back to how I used to eat.
In such a short space of time my body has completely transformed, I have the hard, toned body I ALWAYS wanted (and my partner loves it too!), a better understanding of just how much and what foods are needed to power my body and how to train smart and hard, not just hard.
For anyone about to undertake the same journey there are a few things you will need to come to terms with:
1) You will have to weigh ALL your food. Yes, ALL! I now keep a weight scale at work and have gotten used to cooking up my food for the week and weighing it out into tupperware. This is essential and takes time and persistence. If you do nothing else this is paramount and you need to understand that you will not be able to eat the way you have been doing so far. The benefits far outweigh the difficulties this presents for everyday life and if it was easy then everyone would look awesome!
2) You will need to lift weights. Yes heavy weights (as much as you can). And no you will not look like a female body builder! Trust me, once you start lifting weights you will hate cardio! The results from lifting are amazing – sculpting my body with weightlifting has been an eye opener and you feel awesome after every workout.
3) Your confidence will rise. I promise. Building a strong toned body takes an inner strength I never knew I had. As a result my self confidence has increased tenfold as I know with every spring in my step I have worked my toned ASS off to look and feel this good. Strong = sexy in every sense of the word.
I would do it all again in a heartbeat.
It can be done!
